Owen Black (b. 1966 Newark, New Jersey) photography captures the vitality of a modern world, particularly its industrial theatres. He shows the rhythm of the hustle and bustle of modern life, framed by images of colorful shipping containers and other architectural structures. His mastery of composition, light and framing create uplifting images that transcend everyday life. Through his art, Owen invites us to take a step back from our busy lives and marvel at the vibrant world around us.
Owen Black’s work has been exhibited at the Portland Art Museum and LACMA. He is in collections including LACMA and The Detroit Institute of Arts. He graduated with his BFA from the School of Visual Arts and his MFA from Pratt Institutes. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.
